A receiver exposes plenty of useful data, but raw JSON is an awkward place to explore it. dump1090-dashboard gives that feed a focused browser interface: a table for finding a particular aircraft and a receiver-centered radar for understanding the surrounding observations.

From overview to detail

The table supports sorting and filtering, while a detail drawer provides room for a selected aircraft. Radar trails give a little temporal context instead of showing only the latest point. The interface polls compatible decoder JSON and handles reconnection with backoff when an endpoint is temporarily unavailable.

Keep the interface lightweight

The project is built with TypeScript and Vite without a UI framework. An SVG radar makes the display part of the page itself, and light and dark themes provide options for different viewing environments. The repository also includes a synthetic preview so interface work does not always depend on a live receiver.

Know which feed you are looking at

Synthetic preview traffic is a demonstration, not live aircraft activity. A deployed dashboard still needs a reachable receiver endpoint and suitable receiver-location information. Check the repository's configuration instructions before pointing the interface at your own station.
