Live data is useful for reality checks, but it is difficult to reproduce. An interesting aircraft sequence may be gone before a UI change is ready to test. dump1090-replay turns recorded NDJSON into a compatible JSON feed that tools can inspect again.
Replay through the interface tools expect
The server exposes aircraft, receiver, and statistics JSON. A virtual clock keeps timestamps and seen values coherent during playback. Speed, looping, and duration controls make it possible to revisit a sequence or compress a longer recording into a manageable development session.
Keep simulated context explicit
Statistics synthesized for replay are not measurements of the original receiver's performance. That distinction matters if a dashboard displays message rates or processing behavior beside aircraft positions. The replay should be understood as a controlled representation of recorded observations, not a complete reconstruction of every receiver state.
Build a repeatable check
Choose a recording with the behavior you want to inspect, point the consumer at the replay endpoint, and repeat the sequence after a change. File output can support historical workflows as well. The repository explains the recording format and available playback options.
